The very first ministry God gave Reverend Jimmy Hughes was to work with those who suffer from drug and alcohol addiction, depression, bulimia, anorexia, gambling, rebelliousness, etc., thus the Door of Hope Rehabilitation Center was established.
Door of Hope is located in Honduras, Central America, in a small town called Zambrano, 36 km. north of Honduras’ capital, Tegucigalpa. Since it opened its doors, teenagers and adults from Honduras, from all over the United States, from the Caribbean Islands and from all countries in Central America have come to completely restore their lives.

Who is eligible for this program?
Our main requisite to come stay with us is that the person voluntarily submits to our program that lasts a minimum of 4 months up to 12 months. Some restrictions apply; please read until the end.
What will the person do while he or she is there? Once the person arrives, he or she will start a process that begins by waking up at 6:30 in the morning, the rest of the day goes on something like this:
7:00 – 7:30 AM Corporative prayer
7:30 – 8:00 AM House clean up/Kitchen Duty
8:00 – 8:30 AM Breakfast
8:30 – 9:30 AM Finish House Clean Up/Kitchen Duty
9:00 – 12:30 PM Bible Study and Conferences (we have over 5 Ministers of the Word, Counselors, and Speakers with us)
12:30 – 1:30 PM Lunch and Kitchen Clean-Up
1:30 - 2:30 PM Free time
2:30 – 5:00 PM Working on Projects or Outdoor Leisure Activity
5:00 – 6:00 PM Calisthenics
6:00-7:00 PM Free time (We have no TV, radio, phone or Internet available for residents. This time is best used for personal devotions, personal activities, showers, etc.)
7:00 – 7:30 PM Dinner
7:30 – 9:00 PM Free time.
Occasionally, we organize corporative devotions, watch a Bible Teaching on DVD or just spend time talking and sharing.
9:00 PM Lights out.
On weekends he or she will have more free time, time to receive visitors, time to receive phone calls, for outings to nearby parks, he or she could watch some supervised TV or participate in one of the Ministry’s activities like visiting prisons, taking food to the hungry, etc. We go to Church on Sunday morning.
How will his/her progress be evaluated?
He or she will have periodical personal counseling time with our staff members and Pastors.
What will he/she need to bring with him/her?
He or she will need his/her Bible, notebooks and pens, cold weather clothes (nights can go down to 10 degrees Celsius in the summer), clothes for church, clothes for work. We provide toilette paper; he/she will need all his/her other personal toiletries. We also provide soap so he/she can wash his/her clothes once a week in a washing machine. He/She will need to buy his/her own dirty clothes basket and clothes hangers for the closet since he/she might not be able to carry them in his/her bags from abroad.
What things should he/she leave at home?
Please, he/she needs NOT to bring: cell phone, sound systems like CD players or I Pods, secular music (he/she can bring Christian music but it will be checked on arrival and will be able to hear it only under supervision on the Ministry’s sound systems), laptops, electronic games like Playstation or Gameboy. He/She can bring a camera if he/she would like but it will be used only under staff supervision. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
What documents does he/she need to bring with him/her?
If he/she is Honduran: Just his or her ID (or birth certificate if he’s a minor.) Do not bring credit cards, passports, or others. We are not responsible for lost or stolen documents. If he/she is a foreigner: Just his or her passport. If you must bring a credit card with you, please report it upon arrival so we can place it in the Ministry’s security box along with your passport and airplane ticket. We are not responsible for any documents that are lost or stolen while under your care.
Can he/she smoke at your Rehab Center?
No; this program is absolutely smoke free.
Do you have medical treatment for withdrawal symptoms?
No; this program is absolutely drug free. Any medical condition should be reported and discussed with our staff before the resident arrives to check if his/her condition is eligible for admittance.
Is there any medical requirement for him to be admitted?
It is very important he/she brings the blood test results for HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C, and tuberculosis. If she is a woman, she needs to bring the results of a pregnancy test. We regret not being able to receive persons who are HIV positive or have AIDS; we lack the infrastructure for their proper care.
What is the cost of this program?
The cost of his/her program will be of $700 a month for foreigners (and $425 for Hondurans) and he/she will have to bring the first payment with him/her when he/she checks in. You can also send some spending money for him/her, because sometimes we take them to the nearby stores for some snacks and sodas, or sometimes there are opportunities in which they will need some money. (Also, keep in mind he/she will need to restock his/her personal toiletries, please send enough money for that and be sure to let us know what it is for.) We keep the money in the office bank and give it only when it is needed, and it is spent under supervision; we’re not responsible for lost or stolen money that is under the resident’s care. Also, if there is any medical expense, you will need to cover it. (We suggest a budget of $100 a month for foreigners.) Also, one more important thing: he/she needs to bring a round trip airplane ticket with him/her.
What are the costs for obtaining a Honduran visa?
For information on the visas extended by Honduras on behalf of foreign visitors and their costs, please contact the Honduran Embassy in your country before you leave to come here. We are not responsible for penalties and /or expenses incurred due to stays that extend further than the authorized duration of your visa.
How do we book a flight there?
You should purchase a round trip ticket to land in Tegucigalpa’s International Airport, also known as Toncontin. Tegucigalpa is 36 km away from Zambrano, about one hour drive on the highway through the mountains. We can arrange to pick you up from the airport in Tegucigalpa when you arrive and take you there when it is time to leave. We cannot provide transportation to or from any other Honduran airport; in that case, you would be responsible to drive yourself to Zambrano and back.
Can minors be admitted into the program?
Each case will be evaluated individually. In case the minor is eligible, the parents or legal guardians will be required to grant legal guardianship to the Rehab Center's representatives and also provide a form of ID for the minor.
Will he/she need to sign any documents for his/her admittance?
He/She will be required to provide all of his/her personal information, leave a name and phone number to contact in case of an emergency. Also, he/she will be required to read, understand and sign our Agreement to Withhold from Lawsuits.
